      Instructor NameRonni Brennan
      Tuition/Materials Fees$255/$5
      Class Size1 to 2
      Class Length1 semester(s)
      Class Room106
HomeworkRonni believes that practice is always required to grow musically, but she also knows that if a student isn't having fun with lessons and the piano, learning is likely to not happen. Practicing is highly encouraged, but she does not require "practice logs" as part of the learning process. Ronni offers rewards to motivate her students and encourages parents to offer a space for their child to practice at home. It's has been Ronni's experience that much musical material is remembered when the student is in a stress-free environment and is in a "playful mindset" while playing the piano. Practicing will happen when the student is enjoying the piano.
MaterialsRonni uses the Bastien Piano Basics curriculum. There are four books - piano, performance, technique and theory. All levels are available. She also takes into consideration what each student enjoys playing and implements those genres of music in lessons.
DescriptionDuring the 30 minute private lesson, students will learn musical theory, scales and performance songs. Ronni believes in providing a solid musical foundation where students learn to read music and can eventually play any song they desire, not just copy/memorize a piece or two. All skill levels are welcome. Classes are taught in a stress-free environment with an encouraging attitude and positive motivation. Each lesson is also tailored to the student's interests and abilities.

Class expectations will be given at the beginning of the semester and evaluations will be provided halfway through the semester, as well as at the end.

PROFESSIONAL CLASSES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AFTER REGISTRATION CLOSES.
Instructor BioPiano has been a part of Ronni Wilson's life since she began taking lessons at the age of three. She continued lessons until she left for college where she became a certified elementary school teacher. Throughout her college career at Eastern Michigan University, she was a member of the symphonic band and marching band from 1989 to 1993. In 1990, she became Eastern Michigan University's first female Drum Major of the then EMU Marching Hurons.

After teaching fourth grade for four years, Ronni decided to become a stay-at-home mom and teach a few piano lessons. She began with two students in 1999. She now has over 40 students and absolutely loves her job!

Ronni has done community musical theater, plays piano and sings in her church worship band, and plays and sings with her sister at a variety of church and community functions.

Outside of teaching, Ronni enjoys being with her family, reading, knitting, baking bread, spending time and having fun with friends and jumping rope!

In voice, students will learn how to properly use their voice in order to strengthen and grow it in a healthy way, as well as build a personal repertoire. The goal will be to customize each lesson to the skill level of the student and focus on all aspects of performance such as diction, phrasing, stage presence, breathing, artistic expression, etc.

For piano, students will learn proper technique at the piano, how to hold their hands and wrists, sit correctly, and how to use their fingers. They will be given exercises and songs to practice during the week which will strengthen their fingers and enforce proper techniques learned. Students will also learn to read music and basic music theory. Piano is a great starter instrument since many of the skills will translate to other instruments.

Trish Pino earned her Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education from the State University of NY at Fredonia and is certified in K-12 Vocal and General Music.  She then took a one year placement as a 6th-12th grade vocal and general music teacher.  After that, she studied at Belmont University and received her Master’s of Music in Music Education with a concentration in Vocal and Secondary Education.  After receiving her Master’s degree, she taught for 5 years at Currey Ingram Academy in Nashville, TN where she was responsible for 5th-6th grade general music classes, choir, and band.  She also has over 13 years of experience as a private piano and voice teacher.  Mrs. Pino served as the Music Director at Keystone Church in Saline for 4 years and now has her own practice of private piano and voice students.
Additional InformationThese are 1/2 hour lessons. You will need to talk with the instructor about which half of the hour you would like. Please note: each semester the student will receive 11 lessons. On the 12th week, the student will be expected to stay in the sanctuary in order to rehearse for the Extravaganza. If your child does not participate in the Extravaganza, he/she should not plan on a lesson that week; although if the sanctuary is empty and Mrs.Pino is not required for Extravaganza rehearsals, you may be able to do some singing/piano. Additionally, there is a possibility that a fee will be assessed for an accompanist for the Extravaganza, if necessary. Typical accompanist fees vary.

HomeworkRonni believes that practice is always required to grow musically, but she also knows that if a student isn't having fun with lessons and the piano, learning is likely to not happen. Practicing is highly encouraged, but she does not require "practice logs" as part of the learning process.
